Rep. Stern Comments on House Passage of His Anti-Drug Bill - 5/9/2013
Legislation designed to prevent criminals from skirting the state’s drug law by slightly altering the chemical formula for bath salts and synthetic marijuana was passed by the Pennsylvania House earlier this week. Rep. Jerry Stern (R-Blair), prime sponsor of House Bill 1217, said his bill provides the tools law enforcement needs to stay ahead of criminals who are using creative chemistry to avoid prosecution. Rep. Stern Comments on Governor's Budget Proposal - 2/6/2013
Governor Tom Corbett delivered his annual budget address before a joint session of the General Assembly on Tuesday in Harrisburg. The $28.4 billion spending proposal would increase state spending 2.4% over the current fiscal year. Rep. Legislation to improve oversight of abortion clinics in the Commonwealth by requiring them to meet the same standards as other outpatient surgical facilities has been passed by the Pennsylvania House. Rep. Jerry Stern (R-Blair), said this bill would put standards in place to ensure the health of women who seek services at these facilities.
